CAMERA INDEX Minolta SR-1 The Minolta SR-1 was, despite the name, Minoltas second 35mm SLR. The first one was the SR-2. The SR-1 is basically a cheaper version of the SR-2 with the 1/1000 shutter speed removed and with a slower kit-lens included, the 55mm f2 Auto-Rokkor. I however, have the 50mm f1,7 lens for my camera and my guess is that since my camera was released after the first "face-lift" this might have been the new standard lens. The main difference between my camera and the original released in 1959 is the front holder for the rather bulky light meter that could be attached to the camera. When i bought this camera i got some extra goodies along with it. Among other things a wire-release, several extension rings and tubes, a 30mm wide-angle ROKKOR lens and a macro-bellows with included lens. Of course all of these accessories also fit the SRT-101b. I have photographed two rolls of film with this camera and i'm both happy and disappointed. The photos have been sharp but with other problems, mostly i think stemming from the lab and not the camera itself. But there is also a problem with the second lens i have for this camera, a 30mm wide-angle ROKKOR, which has serious distortion problems. I think that it's probably a problem with my lens specifically and not an error common on these lenses, i could never imagine Minolta selling a lens with this abysmal end sharpness. Aside from these problems this is a nice camera to handle. It looks pretty, feels very solid and is not too heavy for it's size and considering that it's all metal. Camera data
