CAMERA INDEX Mamiya 645 Pro TL There is something strangely appealing to me when it comes to medium format cameras. Of course the film size itself, and the possibilites of very high quality photos, is appealing but there is also something else. When i received my Mamiya 645 Pro TL in the mail and first held it in my hand it was a great feeling. A camera weighing in at over 1,5 kilos, a huge hunk of plastic with just the right look. It was a great feeling. I had no idea what i was going to use the camera for. The previous owner was a professional photographer who probably paid a big hunk of money for the system back in the day. I however had paid almost nothing for a professional quality camera in good condition that basically just needed a clean-up. I couldn't help but feel like a winner and say to myself "i'll figure out what to use it for later". The camera itself is pretty easy to handle despite it's size. With the motor grip it's pretty comfortable to hold and the AE-prism gives it aperture priority. Focusing is easy both with the prism finder and the waist-level finder. It's just a shame really that accessories are quite expensive, i could see myself buying at least one more film back to be able to switch easily from color to B/W. My thoughts right now are to use the camera mostly for architecture/buildings and landscapes. That's also why i bought the 45mm Sekor wide-angle. The 6x4,5 format is grand for landscapes and hopefully i can post some of that on this site later. Camera data
